Nancy Toncy is a dance/movement therapist and counselor working with refugees from Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. She is also an Adjunct faculty at the Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling department at Columbia College Chicago and has a private practice offering dance therapy and counseling services at Chicago Holistic Medicine. Nancy began dancing at the age of 9 at a private ballet school in Cairo, Egypt. Later, she joined the classical ballet academy where she studied classical ballet and ballet character. At the age of 17, she joined the National Egyptian dance theater where she performed as a principal dancer for eight years and toured around the world including Korea, Belguim, Germany, and Tunisia. In 1999, Nancy was awarded a scholarship from the Cairo Opera House and Renato Greco Danza Contemporanea in Rome, ITY to study classical ballet and Jazz for one year With Renato Greco, a renowned choreographer in ITY. During this period, Nancy also performed with Karim toncy's physical dance theater and presented numerous performances at the Cairo Opera House. In Chicago, Nancy continues to perform with her brother 'Karim Toncy', the renowned Egyptian choreographer, and is thrilled to perform with the company in the fourth production.
